6/7-6/8 - NY State Champs - Cicero N. Syracuse H.S.
Rain delays run chaos in Day 1 of the States; a large contingent represents Sea. Franny Maglione tosses 95'-10 in the discus. Shane McAnuff throws 121'-7" in the discus as well. The Boys 4x400 suffers heart break as Luis Quiles pulls his hamstring leading off the relay and no one else gets to race. Sam Walz qualifies through in the 100 & 200 into Day 2.  Thanks to the many parents that helped get our kids up to the meet! Krissy Sarnicola runs 7:18.94 in the 2000 steeple. The highlight of the weekend was Sam Walz winning the NY State Championship in the 100 meters on Saturday.

6/2 - Easterns - Iona Prep
Frannie Maglione wins the discus with a toss of 115'-5". She takes 5th in the hammer with a throw of 106'-4" Both throws are ranked on the Top 10 of Staten Island's ALL-TIME list. Her discus is #10 AT and hammer is #4 AT. Nick Runfola runs a PR in the 200 of 22.87. Matthew Brodsky just misses the school record with a PR in the 400 of 49.56 FAT. Cody Doskocil runs a PR in the steeple to just miss qualifying for the New Balance Nationals with a 6:22.14 FAT. 
5/29 - Frosh Island Champs - St Joseph Sea
​Chris Perez wins the 400 (53.25) & 200 (23.85) to cop the MVP award. The Varsity Boys 4x200 runs a big seasonal best time of 1:33.50 FAT. Giuliana Collegio wins the 3,000 & 1500 in dominating fashion. Serena Salerno takes silver in both the 100 & 200. Emily Paladino wins the shot put. The girls take 2nd overall scoring 96 pts.

5/28 - Fast Times Relays - Warwick H.S.
The Girls 4x400 runs a yearly best time and the best Sea 4x400 time in many, many years with a 4:06.88 FAT. Seniors Nicolina Siracusa & Sam Walz and frosh Abby Walz & Serena Salerno complete relay. The Varsity Boys 4x800 runs 8:05 to take 2nd, the "B" team runs 8:32.31. Frosh Chris Perez runs 2:03 for a big PR and one of the fastest frosh splits in Sea history!

5/25 - CHSAA Catholic State Intersectionals - Icahn Stadium
The girls have perhaps their best meet of the year narrowly losing to a tough St. Anthony's squad 57 to 52 pts. Sam Walz is only the 2nd Staten Islander to win 3 events in a single Intersectional meet (and only one outdoors). The last girl to win three events was Lauren Torelli '03 (Indoors - LJ, TJ, 55HH). Sam would win the LJ, 200 and 100. In the 100, Walz would run 11.82 FAT to crush her Staten Island record and beat the meet record. Her performances earned her the Track MVP award. Capt Krissy Sarnicola won the 2,000 steeple in a fine 7:17.47 and would win the 3,000 on the "Ironman Double. Fellow capt Nicolina Siracusa took the pole vault by over 1.5 feet. Olivia Cowan, depsite trying to balance the TJ and HJ upset the field to take the high jump in a new PR of 5 feet. She would lose the TJ by a mere 1/2 inch for 2nd place!  Frannie Maglione took 2nd in the discus with a throw of 104'-7". This ties the best finish in Sea history (2002 - 2nd place)

The boys were equally impressive, topping many teams while tying for 5th place overall. Shane McAnuff wins the discus on his last throw with a toss of 146'-5". Cody Doskocil (2nd - 10:10.12) and Rob Imparato (3rd - 10:23.23) medal in the 3,000 steeple. The 4x400 turns heads just missing a win to take 2nd in 3:27.55. Today's finish is the best finish for the boys since 2011 (4th Place)

5/18 - NYC Championships GIRLS - Icahn Stadium
After two years of near misses, the girls FINALLY get the covered NYC Championship pulling away from  a tough Archbishop Molloy team 69 to 52 pts. In addition, they are a runaway back-to-back winner in the NY Archdiocese scoring 95 pts. Krissy Sarnciola wins the NYC steeplechase in her first run over the barriers since last May. Frosh Giuliana Collegio takes 3rd. Sarnicola would later double up to run 10:40 for 2nd in the 3,000. Sam Walz had a great day with wins in the 100, 200 and LJ winning the Track MVP award. Her time in the 200 meters (24.69) would break the meet record. Nicolina Siracusa vaulted a career best of 9'-4" in the PV which is #6 in Staten Island history. She would also add a big 2nd place in the 100 meters. The 4x100 of Siracusa, Serena Salerno, Allie Tavarez and Anya Scattaglia just miss a win and take 2nd place. The 4x400 finishes in 4th place with frosh Abby Walz (61.4) and Serena Salerno (63.4) running big PR's. Olivia Cowan wins the triple jump with a meet record jump of 35'-4.5". Earlier in the meet, she would jump 4'-10" in the high jump for 3rd place. Frances Maglione tosses the discus 109'-7" to win the NYC title and break a 24 year old school record held by (Current Sea Soccer Coach) Tara Ferraioulo '00. Our girls win SEVEN NYC & NINE NY Sectional titles.

5/18 - NYC Champs BOYS - Icahn Stadium
Matt Brodsky wins the 400 IH with a PR of 56.48 FAT. Brodsky would later double and run 49.86 FAT breaking 50 seconds for the first time and he did so on the double! He'd finish in 3rd place in a hotly contested race. Cody Doskocil wins his first major title by taking 3,000 steeple in a 10:11.86 FAT. Teammate Robert Imparato gets 2nd with a 10:25.60 FAT. The Varsity 4x800 runs 8:19.39 FAT with a big "Sub 2:10" leg by Jason Brown. Shane McAnuff takes the discus with a toss of 138'-6". Santino Mariano (4:58.5) breaks 5 minutes for the first time and Chris Nitti (58.5) and Nick Nigro (59.1) break 60 secs for the first time. Nick McAuliffe runs a big PR in the 400 with a 54.02 FAT. In total, the boys win THREE NYC and NY Sectional titles finishing in 5th place with 33 pts.

5/11 - Louck's Games - Sat - White Plains H.S.
After a disappointing showing at Penn, mainly due to massive traffic giving the relay no warm-up & almost missing the race, the boys respond with a 7 second seasonal best time of 7:58.50 FAT. It's the 7th "Sub 8" time in Sea history and 4th Fastest in Sea History! The all juniors Christian Garofano (2:01.7), Jonathan Walz (1:59.2 PR), Matthew Brodsky (1:58.3) and DJ Pisapia (1:59.2 PR) placed fifth overall. Shane McAnuff just misses the final in the discus by a mere 2 inches with a 145'-9" toss. Cody Doskocil (10:07.47) and Robert Imparato (10:22.93) both record 7 second PR's in the 3,000 steeple. Sam Walz takes 3rd in the girls 100 under some windy conditions with a 12.49 FAT. Nicky Siracusa runs 13.50 FAT.

5/11 - Frosh/Soph Intersectionals - Icahn Stadium
THREE CATHOLIC STATE CHAMPIONS ARE CROWNED! Giuliana Collegio wins the Frosh Girls 3,000 with a PR of 11:06.67 FAT. Frannie Maglione tosses the discus 99'-5" for a two foot PR to win the soph discus by over 30 feet! Frosh Chris Perez takes 2nd in the Frosh 800 (2:08.69) and wins the Catholic State title in the Frosh 400 (53.29) His time breaks the frosh school record held by Nick Masters (54.4) set back in 2016. Cassidy Coleman (100 - 13.69) and Abby Walz (200 - 28.16) earn silver medals with two PR's.
5/10 - Louck's Games - Fri - White Plains H.S.
After a bad injury in December and nursing it back this winter and spring Capt. Krissy Sarnicola completes her comeback! The senior runs 11:09.62 FAT for a 9 sec PR to crush the 41 year old school record held by Jeanine Radice (11:17.3 - 1983). She's the 4th Fastest in S.I. history!  Sam Walz takes 3rd in a chilly 200 with a 24.97 in the final. Matthew Brodsky (1:58.12) and Christian Garofano (2:00.01) PR in the 800. Pisapia runs 2:02.04.

5/5 - SI Champs - Day 2 - Wagner H.S.
Rainy conditions damper fast times but the team is tough. Junior Matthew Brodsky wins the 400 over a strong field in 51.07. It's the second year in a row he pulled off the 400 IH/400 double and this year he wins the Outstanding Track Performer award. DJ Pisapia and Christian Garofano go 1-2 in the 800 meters. The Boys 4x800 wins with a 8:32.40 FAT. Olivia Cowan wins the 200 S.I. title. In total, St Joe's wins 9 S.I. Championship titles - Girls 200, Girls Discus, Girls PV, Girls Steeple, Boys 400, Boys 400IH, Boys Discus, Boys 800, Boys 4x800. Our boys team, with only 28 men competing, shock the competition to take 2nd overall scoring 109 pts.

5/5 - Howard Richter Invitational - Mt Vernon Stadium
Sea baseball/track star Nick Runfola runs a PR with a 11.60 in the 100 meter final to take third place. He would later double up and run 23.74 in the 200 for 5th place overall.
5/4 - St. Anthony's Invitational - St Anthony's H.S.
​Our flag girls have a nice day in Long Island. Krissy Sarnicola continues her comeback with a 5:02.89 in the 1,500. It's only 3 seconds off of her career best despite missing close to 5 months. Sam Walz takes 2nd in the 100 with a 12.28 in the final. She would later run 24.74 to win the 200 meters. Frosh Abby Walz runs 13.85 (100) and 28.18 (200) for two PR's. 5/3 - SI Champs - DAY 1 - St Joseph Sea H.S.
Matthew Brodsky wins the 400 IH for the second year in a row with a 56.8. Shane McAnuff sets a 10 foot PR in the discus to win with a 148'-4" toss. Frannie Maglione wins the girls discus as well tossing 97'-9". Nicolina Siracusa wins her specialty vaulting 8'-0". Frosh Giuliana Collegio wins the 2,000 steeple in her first time running the event in a solid 8:05.6. The girls sit in 2nd (41 pts) and the boys are in 4th (36 pts) after the 7 events in Day 1.

Sat 4/27 - Penn Relays BOYS - Franklin Field
The Boys 4x400 gets to Franklin Field super early and dominates their section of the 4x400. The foursome runs 3:29.20 to win by close to 8 seconds! It's the third fastest time in Sea history at Penn.('09 - 3:27.10, '10 - 3:28.97, '24 - 3:29.20) and fastest in 14 years! It's also the third time we've won "a wheel" at Penn - 2010, 2015, 2024. DJ Pisapia continued his fast weekend breaking 53 seconds for the first time.

Fri 4/26 - Penn Relays BOYS - Franklin Field
An epic amount of traffic almost prevents the Boys 4x800 from getting to the starting line. But with a non-existent warm-up, and checking during the 2nd leg of the heat before...the boys somehow record a yearly best time of 8:05.91 FAT. DJ Pisapia breaks 2 mins for the first time and is the 3rd Viking to break this year! The clock starts now for the all junior relay to prepare to make the "Championship of America" next year!

Thurs 4/25 - Penn Relays GIRLS - Franklin Field
The girls run outdoor seasonal bests in the 4x100 (50.55 FAT) and 4x400 (4:12.89 FAT). Both times were the fastest from any Staten Island team! In the 4x400, frosh Abby Walz (64.5) and junior Anya Scattaglia (65.3 PR) ran nice legs.

Sat 4/20 - DAY TWO - New York Relays - Icahn Stadium
Cody Doskocil gets the day started in the Invitational 2,000 Steeple by running a big PR of 6:29.48 FAT for 3rd place. His time is the 12th fastest in S.I. history! Brodsky takes 3rd in the Invite 400 (50.81) as does the Boys 4x1600. Sam Walz takes 4th in the Invite 400 - 58.89 FAT. The frosh 4x100 of Abby Walz, Serena Salerno, Angelina Guastamacchia & Cassidy Coleman earn 4th place medals. Late Walz would lead-off in an impressive 63pt for all relay that ran 4:31.78 FAT. Nicolina Siracusa (3rd - 8'-6") and Mariam Azer (6th - 7'-0) earn medals in the PV. Olivia Cowan takes 5th in the TJ with a jump of 35'-4.75".

Giuliana Collegio runs a very nice race in her 3,000 debut with a time of 11:08.69 FAT. Cody Doskocil runs a 12 second PR and his first sub 10 min 3,200 hitting 9:56.51 FAT. Jason Sarnicola crushes the outdoor frosh 3,200 record with a 10:13.57 FAT. The old record was held by the great Frank Recce - 11:05.3 - 2003. Sam Walz runs 24.87 to take 2nd in the Invitational 200. Discus throwers record PR's - Shane McAnuff (139-2" - 6th place) and Frances Maglione (97-8").

4/13 - 23rd BIG BLUE TRACK & FIELD CLASSIC - St Joseph Sea H.S.
61 Schools & 85 teams gather for the 23rd Edition of the Big Blue Track & Field Classic! Our team has a great day winning five events and medaling in 16 different events. Tough conditions throughout the day as the temperature struggles to top 50 degrees with a constant 30-40 mph winds throughout the day. The day starts off with the Frosh Girls taking 5th place in the Frosh SMR. The girls would add a 4th place in the Frosh 4x200. Junior Matthew Brodsky runs a career best to win the 400 IH in 56.74 FAT. Cody Doskocil (3rd - 6:36.40) and Rob Imparato (5th - 6:44.0) medal in the 2,000 Steeple. Sam Walz defends her title in the Invitational 100 meters in 12.42 FAT. Johnny Walz (3rd -2:03.47) and Christian Garofano (4th - 2:03.53) place in the Invitational Boys 800. The Varsity boys take 3rd in the Championship SMR running 3:43.87 FAT. The Frosh Boys 4x400 were runaway winners in 3:59.77 FAT. Frances Maglione wins the discus with a PR of 87'-7". Maglione would take 5th in the shot and Nicolina Siracusa goes 4th in the PV. The Mixed 4x400 wins and takes 3rd place as well. The Boys 4x400 runs a 5 second seasonal best time of 3:27.94 FAT. It is the 8th Fastest in Staten Island history! Junior Luis Quiles (53.6), Junior Matthew Brodsky (50.1), Junior Michael Marchese (52.0 PR) and Frosh Chris Perez (52.2 - PR) just miss medals to take 7th in the EE division.

3/9 - DAY 2 - Nike Indoor Nationals - Armory
Samantha Walz runs 24.98 FAT in the Champ 200. Olivia Cowan jumps 34'-11.75" in the EE TJ. The Boys 4x800 of Christian Garofano (2:02.8), Matthew Brodsky (2:00.2), Jonathan Walz (2:01.2) and DJ Pisapia (2:03.2) combine to run 8:07.54 FAT.
3/8 - DAY 1 - Nike Indoor Nationals - Armory
Chris Perez gets things kicked off with a 53.91 FAT to lower his frosh school record. The Girls 4x200 takes 16th overall - Nicolina Siracusa (27.8), Olivia Cowan (26.6), Alexandra Tavarez (27.5) & Samantha Walz (24.2) combine to run 1:46.09 FAT. The Boys SMR run a 3 second seasonal best with a 3:39.37 FAT. Luis Quiles (24.0), Matthew Menechino (22.8), Matthew Brodsky (50.7) and Jonathan Walz (2:01.5) complete the relay and win their heat. Running in the Mixed 4x400, the relay would finish fifth overall to set an island record and earn All-American status but....a late DQ wipes that away. It still was a great effort as Luis Quiles (53.7), Nicolina Siracusa (62.8 PR), Matthew Brodsky (50.2), Samantha Walz (56.9) handle the baton duties.

3/2 - NY State Championships - Ocean Breeze
Senior Samantha Walz earns two medals in the state championships and knocks down two Staten Island records! Earlier in the day, she lowered her own S.I. record in the 55 with a PR of 7.15 FAT to take 6th place overall. Later in the day, in the 300 trials, she ran 39.24 FAT to knock down the S.I. record held by Felicia Edwards (New Dorp) that went back to 1989! In the 300 final, she took 4th in 39.47. Both trials and finals times were better than her (39.77) PR heading into the day. Her brother Johnny Walz ran a terrific lead-off leg on the Intersectional Relay to lead the CHSAA to 3rd place medals with his 2:37.0 PR lead-off leg.  Frosh Giuliana Collegio ran 5:34.3 to PR by 16 seconds on the anchor leg of the CHSAA Intersectional Relay. Junior Matthew Brodsky ran 1:22.43 in the 600 for 9th overall. Olivia Cowan (TJ) and Nicolina Siracusa (PV) competed for the Vikings as well as SIX athletes competed at this year's state meet.

2/25 - USATF NY Champs - Ocean Breeze
HISTORY! The Girls 4x200 achieve a year long goal of breaking the S.I. record! Running in the George Kochman 4x200; the girls win the event for the first time breaking the meet, island and school records in the process. They won by a convincing 6 second margin. Nicolina Siracusa (27.3), Olivia Cowan (25.7 PR), Alexandra Tavarez (27.7), and Samantha Walz (24.1) complete the relay. The Boys 4x200 take 3rd in a seasonal best time of 1:34.06 FAT. Senior Matthew Menechino breaks 23 seconds for the first time! Luis Quiles (23.5 PR), Michael Marchese (23.8), Matthew Menechino (22.9 PR) and James LaMarca (23.5 PR) were the foursoome. 
2/25 - Ocean Breeze Elite Meet - Ocean Breeze
Giuliana Collegio gets things kicked off with a 3 second PR in 2:29.07 FAT. DJ Pisapia runs a nice PR of 2:01.20 FAT. Olivia Cowan jumps over 37 feet in the TJ for the first time breaking her school record. Sam Walz runs 56.94, the 5th fastest in S.I. history. The 4x400 "B" guys run 3:34.40 FAT with all 4 men PR'ing. The Girls 4x200 just misses the island record with a1:45.27 FAT.

2/17 - NYS Catholic Intersectionals - Ocean Breeze
Samantha Walz takes the 55 (7.17) and 300 (39.77) en route to the Track MVP honors. Her 55 time breaks the S.I. record. Earlier in the day, Walz would jump 17'-2.5" missing out on the win by a mere inch. Olivia Cowan defends her TJ title with a big jump of 36'-9" to break her own school record. Her jump is the #3 jump in S.I. history and would earn her the Field MVP award. Nicolina Siracusa takes 2nd in the PV earning a trip to the NYS Champs. Giuliana Collegio was an upset 4th place with a monster PR of 5:09.29, a 15 second PR! the girls finish in 3rd place scoring 29 pts - our best finish since 2003!
    Matthew Brodsky leads the boys with a 3rd place finish in the 600 meters with a time of 1:21.16. His time breaks the school record and is the 4th fastest in S.I. History. Johnny Walz takes 4th in the 1,000 with a PR of 2:38.00 FAT. Robert Imparato breaks 10 mins for the first time with a 12 sec PR of 9:55.79 FAT. Frosh Jason Sarnciola lowers his school record in the 3,200 with a 5 sec PR of 10:14.93 FAT. The 4x800 takes 3rd on the strength of a big PR by Cody Doskocil (2:03.5)

Jason Brown knocks 18 seconds off his mile PR with a 5:17.42. The Varsity Boys SMR takes 1st place with a time of 3:42.54 FAT
2/11 - 116th Annual Millrose Games - Armory
The Boys 4x800 takes 3rd in a seasonal best time of 8:06.82 FAT. Christian Garofano runs a big lead-off leg time of 2:01.0 followed by Matthew Brodsky (2:01.1), DJ Pisapia (2:03.6), and Johnny Walz (2:01.1). The team takes 3rd behind St. Anthony's (7:56.11) and Xavier (8:02.98). The Girls 4x400 finishes in 5th Place with a seasonal best time of 4:10.66 FAT. All 4 girls set PR's! Nicolina Siracusa (64.3), Olivia Cowan (64.8), Samantha Walz (56.9) and Alexandra Tavarez (64.5) handle the baton duties.

Sam Walz takes 5th in the Varsity 200 meters with a time of 25.09. Giuliana Collegio (2:32.7 - 9 secs) and Kaitlyn DeSimone (2:33.0 - 5 secs) record big PR's in the Frosh 800. Cassidy Coleman runs a big 200 with a 30.11 time. Sarah Zuppardi and Sara Barsoum knock 2 seconds off their 200 PR's.

FOUR School records fall in a great meet for the boys. Christopher Perez gets things started off with a school record in the Frosh 800 with a time of 2:08.61 FAT for 5th place. The old record was 2:08.7 held by Danny Zaccariello in 2007. Perez would later double up with a 24.80 knocking down the previous school record by Liam Vogt (25.2 hand time - 2009). Juniors Matthew Brodsky (1:59.66) and Johnny Walz (1:59.70) both break 2 mins for the first time! Robert Imparato runs a 4:44.42  for the full mile, a 6 second PR. Jason Sarnicola breaks the Frosh Mile record, another Zaccariello record (4:49.08 - 2007), with an 11 second PR of 4:46.53 FAT. Matthew Brodsky breaks his first varsity school record with a PR of 50.08 in the 400 meters. The old school record was 50.56 held by Adam Civitano in 2011. His time qualifies for the Nike Indoor Nationald and is the 8th fastest in Staten Island history.

1/28 - NY/BQ Championships - Armory
The Girls win back-to-back sectional titles in dominating fashion scoring 81 pts. Olivia Cowan breaks the TJ meet record en route to earning the Field MVP award. Samantha Walz, takes the 55, 300 and LJ (on her last jump). Her times in the 55 (7.28) and 300 (40.40) break the meet records and she earns the Track MVP award. Frannie Maglione wins the City/Sectional Championship in the shot put. Nicolina Siracusa wins the Sectional PV (8'-6"). The Varsity 4x200 on a tough anchor leg by Anya Scattaglia wins the City and Sectional Championship. The girls just miss winning the overall city championship losing to Molloy by a mere 2 pts.
     On the boys side, the 17 year old Frosh 4x400 falls as Tiago Nieto (58.1), Jason Sarnicola (57.2), Chris Perez (54.4) and Marco Cristino (60.7) combine to run 3:50.47 FAT. The old mark was 3:53.18 set back in 2007. Sarnicola would later double up and run 2:51.99 in the 1,000 for his second school record of the day. The previous school record was 2:55.30 set by Dylan Doskocil in 2020. Johnny Walz takes 4th in his debut 1,000 in 2:38.17. Matthew Brodsky runs 51.09 to take 2nd in the 400.

The Boys 4x800, for an Island-leading 17th time, qualify for the George T. Eastment final which will be held at the 116th Millrose Games in February. The boys ran 8:13.60 and are the #2 seed.

Our Girls 4x400 headed into the final weekend to post a time sitting on the outside looking in as the #7 seed. By running 4:13.37 this past Sat; the girls punch their ticket for the 2nd straight year!
1/20 - Officials Hall of Fame Invite - Armory
On very short to non-existent warm-ups, the Boys SMR qualifies for the Nike Indoor Nationals with a time of 3:41.10. Johnny Walz runs a big anchor leg split of 2:00.6. Chris Perez PR's by 6 seconds with a 2:15 split on the 4x800. The Girls 4x400, on the last weekend to get a qualifying time for the Millrose Games, runs a FOUR second seasonal best time of 4:13.37 FAT. Amelia Kagaoan breaks 69 secs for a 68.8 split on the "B" team.

1/14 - Staten Island Champs - Ocean Breeze
Girls place 2nd, Boys take 3rd overall. NINE Island Champions are crowned on the day! Girls 55 (Walz), Girls 300 (Walz), Girls 1500 (Collegio), Girls 4x200, Girls TJ (Cowan), Girls PV (Siracusa), Boys 600 (Brodsky), Boys 4x400 & Boys 4x800. A very impressive performance on all levels. THREE freshmen win Island titles including Giuliana Collegio who shocks the field in the 1,500. Sam Walz voted as the the Co-Track MVP of the meet.

1/13 - Frosh/Soph NYC Championships - Ocean Breeze
James Anzalone wins the Soph 600 NYC & NY Sectional title in a PR of 1:27.64 FAT. Jason Sarnicola takes 2nd in the Frosh 3,200 crushing the school record by almost twenty seconds - 10:36.54 FAT. Chris Perez takes 3rd in a fast 400 and smashes the Frosh 400 school record in a time of 54.32 FAT. The previous school record was 56.28 set back in 2007! Tiago Nieto takes silver in the Frosh 800; 2:12.62 FAT - a 3 second PR. The Frosh 4x400 of Nieto, Sarnicola, Marco Cristino and Louis Ferrantelli take 2nd place in 4:06.28 FAT.

1/10 - Millrose Time Trials - Armory
The Girls 4x400 records a seasonal best time of 4:17.81 FAT. Alex Tavarez records a 3 second PR with a 65.1 anchor leg. Sam Walz dips under 58 for the first time in her career. The Boys 4x800 runs 8:13.60 FAT which is a 7 second seasonal best time. The relay is now ranked #8 in NYS and #20 in the USA!
1/7 - Freedom Games - Boys Day 2 - Ocean Breeze
Cody Doskocil runs a gutsy race in the 1,600 en route to a 6 second PR running 4:34.53. Rob Imparato dips under 4:50 for the first time with a 4:48.43. Johnny Walz leads the MD guys in the 600 with a 1:27.94, a 4 second PR. Frpsh Jason Sarnicola breaks 5 mins in his first time running the 1,600; 4:56.33.

1/6 - Freedom Games - Girls Day 1 - Ocean Breeze

Lots of PR's are recorded in the last tune-up before the SI Champs. Frosh Giuliana Collegio runs 5:55.13 in the 1,600 in her first time running the event. Anya Scattaglia runs 49.03 FAT in her first time running the 300 meters. Cassidy Coleman and Eliana Marcello knock one second off their 300 PR's.

12/29 - Marine Corp Holiday Classic - Armory
The Varsity Boys 4x800 runs 8:20.32 FAT in a "shake off the rust" opener for the season to take 3rd overall. The Varsity Girls 4x400 hits 4:18.82 FAT to earn 6th place medals. The team records some solid times in the last meet of the 2023 year with hopes of qualifying both teams for the Millrose Games in February!

12/27 - Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival - Ocean Breeze
The team gets back to work after the Christmas holiday and earns 12 medals. The Girls 4x200 chops 1 second off their seasonal best to take third overall. Nicolina Siracusa, Olivia Cowan, Alex Tavarez and Samantha Walz combine to run 1:47.38 FAT. Tavarez breaks 28 seconds for the first time.  The Frosh Boys earn 4th place medals with a time of 1:45.42 FAT. The Varsity Boys 4x400 runs a 7 second seasonal best time of 3:32.35 FAT. Luis Quiles and DJ Pisapia each record 1 second PR's. Eisen PR's by 4 secs and frosh Sarnicola not only breaks 60 but 59 as well!

12/17 - Bishop Loughlin Games - GIRLS - Ocean Breeze
Sam Walz runs an impressive 40.01 FAT in the 300m trials and takes 2nd in the final with a 40.12 FAT. Her time is the 2nd fastest in SI History and breaks the school record held by the Great Jesse Carlin (39.8h - 2004). Krissy Sarnicola does all of the work in the Invitational 2M and gets 2nd with a time of 11:35.87 FAT. Nicolina Siracusa vaults an indoor best of 9'-0" to take 6th place. Her vault is tied for the 4th highest in SI History!

FROSH 4X400 TAKES THE WIN!

12/16 - Bishop Loughlin Games - BOYS - Ocean Breeze
Junior Matthew Brodsky loses the Varsity 600 meters by 2 thousandths of a second! Brodsky is now US #2! The other varsity 600 meter runners prove they're getting back in nice shape! All three 55 meter runners break 7 seconds led by Robert Stefanelli's 6.93 FAT. Tiago Nieto (2nd - 10.26) and Chris Perez (4th - 10.69) both medal in the Frosh 55 HH. Perez and Nieto also earn medals in the Frosh 600 with times of 1:35.50 FAT and 1:35.61 for 5th and 6th. James Anzalone takes 2nd in the Soph 600 meters with a new PR of 1:30.17 FAT. Luis Quiles breaks a 2 second PR in the Varsity 300 with a 37.60 FAT. The Varsity 4x200, running without our #1 sprinter, runs 1:35.09 FAT to take 6th in the finals. 12/9 - CHSAA Relay Carnival - Armory
The Frosh boys 4x200 gets things kicked off with a 3 second personal best good enough for 4th place medals. Their time of 1:44.79 FAT is the 2nd fastest in Sea history. Cody Doskocil takes 4th in the 1,600 with a time of 4:41.76 FAT. The Varsity boys 4x200 earn silver medals running 1:36.29 FAT. 

Sam Walz won the 55 meters just missing the S.I. record with a 7.21 FAT for an easy win. Krissy Sarnicola was a runaway winner in the 1,500 breaking 5 minutes for the first time in 4:59.31 FAT. The Varsity Girls 4x200 wins an exciting race in 1:48.39 FAT. Giuliana Collegio takes the Frosh/Soph 800 running 2:41.22. Nicolina Sirauca (PV - 8'-6") and Olivia Cowan (TJ - 35-7.25") both win their specialties. Frosh Bobbi Stefanelli takes 4th in the Frosh 55 HH.

Lots of medals were won on the day as the team kicks off the 2023-2024 indoor season! Both boys & Girls Varsity 4x200 relays take 2nd place in major year to year improvements - 4 seconds better per relay than they opened up last year! The Frosh Boys & Girls 4x200 takes 3rd. Both Varsity SMR's just miss winning en route to 2nd place finishes. The Varsity boys 4x400 just takes 2nd place as well.

11/18 - NY State Champs - Bowdoin Park
Junior Cody Doskocil hits 17:57 and its the #4 Islands at the state meet. A school record FOUR boys qualify for the prestigous XC meet. Juniors Robert Imparato & Matthew Brodsky as well as Frosh Jason Sarnicola qualify and run solid as well. Senior Krissy Sarnicola and Frosh Giuliana Collegio represent the girls program as SIX total Vikings compete on the day.

11/11 - Catholic State Intersectionals - VCP
SIX Vikings qualify for the NYS Championships next weekend at Bowdoin Park. Cody Doskocil (14:00), Robert Imparato (14:16), Jason Sarnicola (14:24) and Matthew Brodsky (15:00) all qualify for the first time in their careers. Jason Sarnicola is Sea's FIRST freshmen boy to qualify for the meet and he did so while demolishing the Frosh 2.5 record by 31 seconds with a 14:24. Note: Junior Rob Imparato, sindelined with knee issues for close to 6 weeks went from no running to a 14:16, state qualifying position - Hard Work Pays Off!

Krissy Sarnicola runs 16:20 which is the #4 SEA AT and 83rd fastest in S.I. history! Frosh Giuliana Collegio (18:00) runs an 18 sec PR en route to earning an all-large bid as well. Senior Captain Jessica Longo runs a 30 second PR yet again to end her XC career on top!

11/7 - Frosh Islands - Clove Lakes Park
Giuliana Collegio wins the Frosh Island title in 9:48.6 to lead the team to our first SI Frosh XC title since 1985! Kaitlyn DeSimone (4th - 10:10) and Angelina Guastamacchia (6th - 10:24) both crack the Top 10. Jason Sarnicola finishes in 4th with a time of 8:39. Olivia Farinacci wins the Frosh "B" race.

11/4 - Frosh Catholic State Intersectionals - VCP
The frosh girls take 2nd in the Catholic States to a strong squad from St Anthony's in LI. This is the best finish for the frosh girls in this meet since 1997! Giuliana Collegio leads the squad and Kaitlyn DeSimone and Angelina Guastamacchia break into the Top 12. Sophia Fasino wins the "B" race beating teammate Olivia Farinacci as Sea takes 3 of the top 4 places in the race. Jason Sarnicola just misses breaking 9 mins in his final 1.62 at VCP with a fine 9:01 clocking which is tied for #3 FR AT. Marco Cristino breaks 10 mins for the first time with a 9:57.

FROSH GIRLS WIN NYC CHAMPIONSHIP
The Girls also take the sectional title!

10/28 - NY/BQ Sectional Champs - VCP
The Frosh girls get things kicked off by winning the first Frosh NYC title in Sea history by topping St Francis Prep by a score of 35 pts to 60 pts. In the NY Archiocesan Championships, the girls ran away with the title by scoring an almost perfect 19 points. Giuliana Collegio takes 2nd overall with a fine time of 10:26. Krissy Sarnicola places 3rd overall in the varsity girls race with a new PR of 16:22. Jessica Longo breaks 19 mins for the first time with a time of 18:57. Rob Imparato paces the varsity and leads the Island with a PR of 14:29. Frosh Jason Sarnicola runs 9:04 which is #7 FR ALL-TIME.

10/21 - NYC Carnival - VCP
Yet another Sat that was a soaker, the Vikings battle rain storms for their 3rd race in 7 days. Cody Doskocil breaks 14 mins for the 2nd time this season. Frosh Jason Sarnicola runs 14:58 in his VCP 2.5 debut which is the 3rd fastest frosh in Sea history! Frosh Angelina Guastamacchia slips under 20 mins in her VCP 2.5 debut.

10/18 - Staten Island Champs - Ocean Breeze
Major improvements from the season opener for both the boys and girls. The competition was tough as the boys place 4th and girls take 5th. Sarnicola is the first Sea girls to break 20 mins, on any 5K course in close to 20 years! Colin Bennett paces the JV boys to third place.

10/14 - Manhattan College Invite - VCP
After two meets getting washed out and racing in close to a month the Vikings finally get to compete. Under cool and rainy skies, Cody Doskocil breaks 14 minutes for the first time for 19th place in the Varsity "A" race. Johnny Walz nails a 22 second PR with a 14:26. Rob Imparato running his first race of the season breaks 15 minutes for a career best time of 14:56. The Frosh girls take 3rd in a competitive race earning team medals paced by Giuliana Collegio's 10:14. Jason Sarnicola runs an impressive 8:41 for 10th in the Frosh "A" race.

9/16 - Regis Invitational - VCP
Kristen Sarnicola leads the varsity girls with a 16:33. Her time is the 6th fastest in Sea history! The girls finish at the 4th fastest team in the CHSAA. DJ Pisapia leads the varsity and Jason Sarnicola runs a fast 9:36 to pace the freshmen. Angelina Guastamacchia (11:24) and Kaitlyn DeSimone (12:01) earn medals and lead the freshmen to 4th place overall.
