1/10 - Frosh/Soph Sectionals - Ocean Breeze
Jace Lawless wins the NYC & NY Sectional title in the 55 meters with a 6.69 FAT. His time lowers his own sophomore school record. The Soph 4x200 earns silver medals just missing the soph school record despite a 22.6 anchor leg from Lawless. The Soph 4x800 takes the NYC & NY Sectional championship on a big kick by Avery Rosado with a 2:04.8 anchor leg. Soph Emmitt Estrella (5'-2) and Frosh Ryan Basso (4'-10) take 4th place in each high jump with new PR's. The frosh 4x400 places 4th behind a nice sub 60 lead off leg by Joseph Leto.
In the Varsity "Showdowns" Adam Vitale drops the hammer on Chris Perez for the "A" team victory 3:40.56 to 3:40.71. Due to this, our SMR "B" team has qualified for the National Championships in March. The SMR "D" led the "C" team much of the race but a big kick by Michael Pira locks down the "C" team win slight win over Sarnicola's "D" team.
On the girls side, the SMR "A" team had a convincing win with a 4:31.97 FAT. Their time is currently #10 in NY State. Charlotte Lopardo broke 2:40 to lead the "B" team to wins over the "C" and "D" squads. Katerina Pasqualone dropped a 2 sec PR on the "C" squad. Sophia Flynn (2:46.8) and Sofia Drotarovsky (2:47.7) nailed nice 800 PR's.
