5/23 - Catholic State Championships - Icahn Stadium
Jason Sarnicola wins his first Catholic State title in a dominating win in the 3,000 Steeple with a new PR and school record of 9:37.49. He won the race by 43 seconds! His time is #5 in Staten Island History! Adam Vitale takes 3rd in the 800 meters for a two second open PR of 1:55.03 for third place. His time is #2 in Sea history behind only the Great Danny Zaccariello's '10 1:54.94. Frosh Dom Scibilia inches even closer to a sub 5 min mile with a 5 second PR of 5:01.81. On the girls side, Keira Lavezzoli runs a two second PR in the 400 IH for 3rd place in 69.85. Giuliana Collegio completes the "Iron Man" double with a 2nd in the 2,000 steeple (7:43.03) and her 2nd best 3,000 in her career (10:51.64 - 3rd). Abby Walz runs another PR in the 400 for 4th in 58.39. Mariam Azer vaults 8'-6" for 2nd place. The boys finish in 10th place (10 pts) and the girls place 5th overall (17 pts).
