2/9 - Catholic State Champs - Ocean Breeze
In an exciting back and forth race, the 4x800 wins Sea's first Catholic State relay title in a seasonal best 8:06.96 FAT. Dom Palermo ran a big PR with a 2:02 lead-off leg. Nick Masters, coming off of a sub-par 600, moved the relay up from 5th to 1st on a 28 second last lap! Steven Anzalone held off a late charge from Chaminade to seal the win. The sprinters started the day off by breaking the school record in the 4x200 trials, 1:32.24 FAT, moving them up to #4 STATEN ISLAND ALL-TIME. Unfortunately, later in the day the 4x400 relay, racing as the #1 seed, went bad as Ken Dias was clipped by a Kellenberg runner knocking the team out of the race. A few minutes later, the team race 1:32.96 with Nick Patinella stepping up as the anchor leg for 5th place. Vin Masters ran a huge race in the 1600 for a 4:45, a 10 second PR.
