Mike Matrangolo wins the NY Sectional & NYC Championship in the long jump. He also was 2nd in the triple jump with a big PR of 41'-7". Mike Kieran was 3rd in the 3000 steeple and Mike Rotondo was 5th in a PR of 24.17 in the 200.

Steven Anzalone wins the Soph Catholic State Title in the 400 IH in a personal best of 60.64 FAT. The Soph 4x800 places 3rd with a combined time of 8:53.0 in the rainy and cold conditions.

The Soph DMR smashes the soph record by almost 15 seconds. Steve Anzalone (3:28.2), Kenneth Dias (55.2 - PR), Rob Romeo (2:13.4 - PR) and Hudson Scanni (4:52.1 - PR) combine to run 11:29.26 FAT. The previous record was 11:41.85 set back in 2011. On Friday, Mike Matrangolo jumped 21'-5.5" and just missed out on the finals.

Big Matt tops 100 feet in the disc and 37 feet in the shot on day two. The Varsity 4x100 of Zack Ryan, Michael Rotondo, Lucas Lafferty & James Internicola win the Staten Island title. The "B" team comes up for third place. The Varsity 4x400 just misses winning as well and settle for 2nd place. Lucas Lafferty gets over the 20 foot barrier to take 3rd in the long jump. Despite the 4 hour drive, and a flat tire, the Soph DMR smashes the school record by over 6 seconds. On Day 2, the milers scorch the track. Nick Masters breaks the 3 year old sophomore mile record by 6 seconds with a 4:37.57 FAT time for the full mile. The previous record holder was Nick Velez who ran 4:43.30 FAT at the same meet three years ago. Steven Anzalone is #3 SO AT with a 4:44.18 FAT. Huge PR's for Masters (20 secs) and Anzalone (19 secs)

Steven Anzalone won the 600 meters and the 4x800 relay of Anzalone, Nick Masters, Hudson Scanni and Dom Palermo struck gold. On the freshmen side, the 4x200 wins the sectional title convincingly with a seasonal best of 1:44.58 FAT, only 4 tenths of a second off the freshmen record.

1/9 - Ocean Breeze Grand Prix Trials - Ocean Breeze
A young 4x800 relay, comprised of 1 junior & 3 sophomores qualify for the George T. Eastment 4x800 Final at the Ocean Breeze Grand Pix in February. Steven Anzalone led off and got us right in the heart of the race. Michael Kieran fought valiantly to hand off just off 3rd place. Nick Masters ran a phenemonal leg to keep us in contention with a 4 second personal best. Hudson Scanni handled the anchor leg duties and nailed down a 7th place finish.
In the 4x200's, 18 out of 28 guys that raced set PR's. The freshmen relay is now within 5 tenths of a second of breaking the school record while running 1:44.65 FAT. Lafferty runs 24.0!

Eastment 4x800 continued, the CHSAA held trials for the race at Ocean Breeze and the finals will be held at a new elite meet at Ocean Breeze called the Ocean Breeze Grand Prix. It was also decided that, since the final is now longer held on the tight turns of Madison Square Garden, to expand the 4x800 final from 6 teams to 8 teams.

The Varsity 4x800 ventures out to the Armory to get a time for the "Seeded Section" of the Grand Prix CHSAA 4x800 Trials. The team runs 8:33.16 FAT which is a solid start for the relay comprised of 1 junior and 3 sophomores. Steven Anzalone (2:05.7), Michael Kieran (2:04.4), Nick Masters (2:12.1) and Hudson Scanni (2:10.7) made up the relay that took 7th place medals home. The Viking 4x800 is currently the #7 seed in the 10 team seeded section with one weekend to go before the trials.

The team gets a nice workout in to prep for the bigger meets of January. Junior Mike Kieran posts an 8 second PR in the mile and Soph Dom Palermo just misses breaking the sub 5 minute barrier. Mike Matrangolo, in his first meet of the season, places 4th with a jump of 20'-1.5". Sophs Steven Anzalone and Nick Masters record some nice triples on the day.

Junior Michael Kieran qualifies for the NYS Federation Champs. This is the 5th consecutive year at least one runner has qualified for the state meet. With our entire Top 7 returning and a 5 man average of 14:16 for XC 2017, the future is indeed bright.

Junior Michael Kieran almost pulls off a huge upset but settles for 2nd place in a big personal best. The sophs turn in very nice efforts - Nick Masters (18:02 - #6 SO AT), Steven Anzalone (18:10 - #8 SO AT) and Hudson Scanni (18:16 - #14 SO AT) all hit all-time list performances. The Varsity finishes in 4th place with the entire Top 7 to return.

The sophs turn in very nice efforts - Nick Masters (18:02 - #6 SO AT), Steven Anzalone (18:10 - #8 SO AT) and Hudson Scanni (18:16 - #14 SO AT) all hit all-time list performances. The Varsity finishes in 4th place with the entire Top 7 to return.

10/18 - NYCHSAA Sectionals - VCP
On a scorcher of a day that sent temps into the 90's, PR's would be few and far between. In a tough duel with a sound Xavier squad the team finishes in 2nd place losing out on a win by a mere 1 point. The soph squad, which was a distant 4th place as freshmen, has certainly improved alot.

10/8 - Manhattan College Invitational - VCP
Freshmen Corey Pisapia breaks the 2 year school record in the VCP 2.5 mile course with a time of 14:46. The former record of 14:50 was held by junior Michael Kieran. Rob Romeo runs a big PR of 15:35.

We tried a different philosophy this year of running VCP in back to back meets with a different strategy in mind and it paid off in a huge way. Mike Kieran scorches the trails to the tune of a 13:24. Nick Masters runs 14:18 and Steven Anzalone runs 14:20 for #7 and #10 SO AT performances. Hudson Scanni breaks 15 minutes for the first time. Freshmen Corey Pisapia runs 15:18 in his VCP 2.5 debut.
