5/6 - St. Anthony's Invitational - St. Anthony's
Since doing two sports during one season prohibits our flag girls from competing in the SI Champs; two girls took the trip to LI and had quite a day! Sam Walz broke the Staten Island record in the 100 meters with a time of 12.15 in the trials. Her time is #1 in SI History and breaks the previous mark held by Tottenville's Vanessa Jones. She would run 12.21 in the final to take 3rd overall. Walz would later double up and run 25.28 in the 200 for 2nd place. Her time breaks the previous school record held by Jesse Carlin (25.54) from 2002. She is now #4 STATEN ISLAND ALL-TIME. The team wins SIX Island Championship titles. Senior Victoria Dziubela wins the 2,000 Steeple (7:52.8) and 800 meters (2:23.02) en route to being elected the meet's "Outstanding Track Performer." Nicolina Siracusa wins the pole vault tying a career best 8 feet. Joey Wilson defends his 3,000 meter championship in a time of 9:50.2. Cody Doskocil breaks a 14 year school record in the Soph 3,000 steeple with a time of 10:21.1. Soph Matthew Brodsky wins the 400 IH (58.5) and 400 meters (51.38). Sophs Johnny Walz (53.98) and Mike Lento (55.46) record big PR's in the 400. Nicolina Siracusa (13.09) and Olivia Cowan (26.96) record big PR's to take 2nd in the 100 and 200 meters. Sophs DJ Pisapia and Christian Garofano place 4th and 5th in the 800. Garofano drops 2 more seconds in the 800 as he inches closer to the 2 minute barrier. The boys finish in 3rd place while the short-handed girls take 5th.

Matt Brodsky takes 3rd in the 400 IH (59.39) in a big 6 second PR. He later doubles up to win the NYC Championship in the 400 in 51.29. His time breaks the soph school record from 2008! Shane McAnuff wins the NYC Championship in the shot put with a toss of 39'-5". Both 4x400 and 4x800 relays earn silver medals. The soph squad finishes in 2nd place. In the non-scoring girls portion of the meet, Frannie Maglione wins the frosh/soph shot put and discus.

3/10-3/12 - Nike Indoor Nationals - Armory
The Girls SMR crushes it with a 4 second seasonal best and most importantly and ALL-AMERICAN 5th place finish. Nicolina Siracusa (27.7), Olivia Cowan (27.0), Samantha Walz (58.6 PR) and Victoria Dziubela (2:20.6 PR) combine to run 4:14.13 FAT. It's the 9th fastest in SI History and knocks down the previous school record of 4:15.24 set back in 2003. Earlier in the day, the Girls 4x200 runs a 1:46.96 sparked by a 24.4 anchor leg by Walz. The Girls 2 Mile record also goes down with Kristen Sarnicola breaking the great Julie Lamiquiz's '01 record of 11:58.4 by over 20 seconds. Her time of 11:35.26 is a new school record and #10 in SI History! Sarnicola previously ran 12:11.29 at the Bishop Loughlin Games. The Boys DMR runs 10:43.23 and Rising SMR combines to run 3:49.83. Soph Jeremy Muccio runs 53.0 in his first 400 ever! Day 2 was rough for the Vikings but a highlight was Nicolina Siracusa, who subbed for Walz, ran 64.3 for a 4 second PR.

The Varsity Girls take 2nd in the George Kochman 4x200 in a hotly contested race. Susan Wagner wins the girls race and Sea takes 2nd in a new school record time of 1:46.50. It's also the #10 time in Staten Island history! The soph boys, running in the Varsity Jim Hughes Championship, crush the soph school record with a time of 1:36.34. The old record was 1:38.78 set back in 2014. Both relays earn 2nd place medals.

Joey Wilson gets things kicked off by snapping the 1 year old school record in the Varsity Boys 2 Mile. His 9:39.39 knocks 3 seconds off the record set by Dylan Doskocil last year. Sam Walz has one of the best sprint doubles in SI history. She runs 7.83 in the 60 meter dash setting a new Sea record. Her time is also #3 in SI history. The current SI record is 7.80. En route to her 60 meter dash she went through the 55 meters in 7.28 which breaks her current school record (7.37) and has her ranked #5 in SI history. Between her 60 meter trials and finals, Walz ran 40.56 in the 300 meters for a 2 second PR and has her ranked #7 in SI History! To end the day, the Soph boys break the Soph DMR record by 16 seconds with a time of 11:10.91.

Junior Olivia Cowan jumps 35'-11.25" to win the Catholic State Championship in the triple jump. It breaks a 21 year school record held by Megan Melvin (35'-7.5"). Fellow junior Sam Walz takes 3rd in the 55 (7.39) and 4th in the long jump (16'-3 PR). Junior Kristen Sarnicola runs a HUGE 3,000 meters to break the oldest Sea record on the books with a time of 10:46.69. Her 4th place time is a 12 second PR and breaks Katrina Black's time of 10:48.6 from 1980! She came back to take a hard earned 5th place in the 1,500 with a PR of 5:06.74. Senior captain Victoria Dziubela takes 2nd in the 1,000 meters with a new PR of 3:06.08. Freshmen Frannie Maglione takes 4th in the shot put with a toss of 28'-9.25". The Varsity 4x200 takes 5th in 1:50.70 FAT.

Soph Santino Mariano drops a 16 sec PR with a time of 5:07.12. The Varsity Boys SMR runs 3:38.57 for a 6 second seasonal best time. Nick Runfola is the first Viking to split a sub 23 time in 4 years. The boys SMR is now NY #5 and US #20. The Varsity Girls SMR runs 4:18.85 for a big 7 second seasonal best. Vic Dziubela runs a big anchor leg with a 2:22.9 carry; a 3 second PR. The girls are now ranked NY #11 and US #28. Both SMR's have qualified for the championship sections of the National Championships. The Varsity Boys 4x800 and Varsity Girls SMR "ship up to Boston" and are very competitive. The girls got things kicked off with a 4th place finish in the John T. Prendergast race with a time of 4:25.91 FAT. Nicolina Siracusa (27.8), Olivia Cowan (26.8 PR), Laila Velazquez (65.2 PR) and Victoria Dziubela (2:26.0) complete the relay. In the George T. Eastment 4x800, the team battles throughout and on the second leg found itself in the lead. Dylan Doskocil (2:01.8 PR), Soph Matthew Brodsky (2:01.9 PR), Joey Wilson (1:59.7 PR) and Soph DJ Pisapia (2:02.5 PR) all set PR's. For Wilson, its his first time going sub 2 minutes! 1/29 - NY/BQ Sectional & NYC Championship - Armory
For the first time since 2013, the girls win the NY Archdiocesan Championship and they did so in convincing fashion. The team scores 83 points to top defending champion Notre Dame Academy who scored 46 points. In the combined NY/BQ City Championship the team finishes 4 points behind Archbishop Molloy 52-48. Junior Sam Walz won the NYC & NY Sectional championship in the 55 meters with a blazing fast time of 7.37. Her time is tied for the #8 Fastest in Staten Island History. Walz would later dip to first place in the 300 meters winning in a time of 42.35, which had to go down to the thousandths place! Walz's performances on the track earned her the meet's "Track MVP award." Nicolina Siracusa came up for a big third place with a PR of 7.60. Senior Victoria Dziubela took 3rd in the 1,000 in a time of 3:18.29. Junior Krissy Sarnicola ran a HUGE 3,000 by dipping under 11 minutes to take 2nd in 10:59.53 in a massive PR. Dziubela and Sarnicola would come back to take 2nd (5:09.47) and 3rd (5:10.70) in the 1,500 meters! The 4x200 took 3rd place in 1:54.42. We had a great day in the field events as well. Freshmen Frances Maglione won the NYC/NY Sectional title with an 18" PR of 30'-8" in the shot put.Junior Olivia Cowan had a monster jump of 35'-.5" to win the NYC/NY Sectional title. Her jump is tied for #10 in Staten Island History!

His time is less than a second off of the school record held by teammate Dylan Doskocil. James LaMarca, Matthew Brodsky, Derek Pisapia and Jonathan Walz combine to run 3:39.60 FAT which breaks a 16 year school record! Brodsky would late double back to take 2nd in the 400 meters running 51.72 FAT. His time broke Steven Anzalone's soph record of 53.94 from 2017. Brodsky now has the Soph 300, 400, 600 and 4x400 records. Soph Derek Pisapia takes 5th in the 600 with a 4 second PR of 1:28.57. Dylan Doskocil took 4th in the 800 (2:04.40) and later took 2nd in the 1,000 (2:43.15). Joey Wilson doubled back to run 4:30.97 for 3rd in the 1,600. For the first time since 2013, the girls win the NY Archdiocesan Championship and they did so in convincing fashion. The team scores 83 points to top defending champion Notre Dame Academy who scored 46 points. In the combined NY/BQ City Championship the team finishes 4 points behind Archbishop Molloy 52-48. Junior Sam Walz won the NYC & NY Sectional championship in the 55 meters with a blazing fast time of 7.37. Her time is tied for the #8 Fastest in Staten Island History. Walz would later dip to first place in the 300 meters winning in a time of 42.35, which had to go down to the thousandths place! Walz's performances on the track earned her the meet's "Track MVP award." Nicolina Siracusa came up for a big third place with a PR of 7.60. Senior Victoria Dziubela took 3rd in the 1,000 in a time of 3:18.29. Junior Krissy Sarnicola ran a HUGE 3,000 by dipping under 11 minutes to take 2nd in 10:59.53 in a massive PR. Dziubela and Sarnicola would come back to take 2nd (5:09.47) and 3rd (5:10.70) in the 1,500 meters! The 4x200 took 3rd place in 1:54.42. We had a great day in the field events as well. Freshmen Frances Maglione won the NYC/NY Sectional title with an 18" PR of 30'-8" in the shot put.Junior Olivia Cowan had a monster jump of 35'-.5" to win the NYC/NY Sectional title. Her jump is tied for #10 in Staten Island History!

Brodsky would late double back to take 2nd in the 400 meters running 51.72 FAT. His time broke Steven Anzalone's soph record of 53.94 from 2017. Brodsky now has the Soph 300, 400, 600 and 4x400 records. Soph Derek Pisapia takes 5th in the 600 with a 4 second PR of 1:28.57. The tream has a spirited effort throughout the day and finishes a school best 2nd at the NYC Soph Championships. Derek Pisapia wins the Soph NYC & NY Sectional title in the 1,000. Derek Pisapia took first place in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:46.36. Pisapia later teamed with James LaMarca, Louis Quiles and Anthony DIStefano to take gold in the 4x400 (3:53.83). Shane McAnuff tossed a three foot personal best in the shot put with a put of 40-3” to earn the silver medal. Cody Doskocil (1600-4:51.05) and Robert Imparato (3,200 -10:47.91) earned third place medals. The Varsity Boys 4x800 runs a big seasonal best time of 8:13.90 FAT that is currently #4 in the CHSAA with teams having until Sunday to post a qualifying time. The team time is an 11 second seasonal best and qualifies the team for the National Championships. Later in the day, the same foursome would team up to run 4:25.38 FAT in the SMR to earn 2nd place medals. Sophs take 2nd in NYC and in the NY Archdiocese. - our best finish since 2016!

10/8 - Manhattan College Invitational - VCP
The sophs get things kicked off by winning the "Jim Harrington Soph B" race at the nation's "Biggest & Best XC meet!" A 15:13 5 man average locks down the 22 point victory over Ridgefield H.S. Cody Doskocil leads the sophs with a 14:35 time and Pisapia, Imparato, Bennett, Brodsky and Walz all break 16 minutes. Matty Cracciolo leads the JV team with a 16:29; Jay Brown sets a monster PR of almost 2 minutes in 16:44.

Joey Wilson continues his hot running by winning his 2nd of 3 races this season. Today, he takes the "D" race at Six Flags edging out teammate Dylan Doskocil while both stopping the clock in 16:23. They are both now ranked #2 ALL-TIME. Sophs Cody Doskocil, Derek Pisapia and Robert Imparato complete the scoring as the team finishes with a 3rd place plaque.

Joey Wilson lights up the VCP trails for a 39 second PR of 13:25 in our team's first time on the VCP course this season. His 5th place performance is #6 ALL-TIME! Sophs Derek Pisapia and Cody Doskocil run 15:13 and 15:15 respectively. Santino Mariano runs a BIG time of 17:20. Great job all - plenty of work to be done!

Joey Wilson wins the first varsity race of his HS career by outkicking teammate Dylan Doskocil. Sophs Cody Doskocil and Derek Pisapia earn medals by finishing in 9th and 10th place respectively. The Vikings just get edged out by the Xaverian Clippers 31-36.
