Captain Michael Kieran, in his last race as a Viking, runs 6:21.15 FAT in the 2000 Steeple just missing the standard for the National Championships. His time is believed to be #2 ALL-TIME in Sea history. Freshmen Vincent Masters runs a 6 second PR in the 800 for a 2:13.32 FAT. Hudson Scanni takes 4th in the 100 in a PR of 11.49 FAT. Today's meet ends the 2017-2018 track year. 5/31 - Staten Island Dream Mile - St. Joseph Sea
Nick Masters, running in his first mile in over 18 months, wins the Staten Island Dream Mile with a vicious kick en route to a personal best time of 4:35.0. Michael Kieran places 3rd and Steven Anzalone takes 4th in an exciting night under the lights at Sea. Rob Romeo runs a big PR with his first sub 4:50. Vincent Masters breaks the frosh mile record with a 4:56.2 time. The old record was 5:02.08 from 2012. In the 100 meters, Hudson Scanni loses a nailbiter at the line with a PR of 11.2 in the "Fastest Boy on Staten Island" final. Jason Marchese finished in 5th place. SUB 8 MINS! - 7:59.84 FAT
5/29 - Fast Times Relays - Warwick Valley H.S. The Viking 4x800 breaks the elusive 8 minute barrier for the 5th year of the past 10 years and first time since 2016. It was a year that saw many ups and downs and beset by injuries. Senior Michael Kieran led off in a personal best of 2:00.5 to hand off in 5th/6th place. Junior Nick Masters, finally rebounding off of a bad ankle, ran a big PR of 1:57.9 battling in the lead chase pack. Junior Steve Anzalone ran a solid 1:59.4 while only slightly fading the last 100 meters. Soph Corey Pisapia, the #5 800 man heading into the meet, ran a huge leg for a 4 second PR of 2:01.9. Michael Kieran got things kicked off with his first sub 10 minute performance in the 3000 steeple, #2 ALL-TIME, 9:58.57 FAT. Kieran would place 2nd in the event and earn the silver medal. In the 4x400 trials the foursome of Ken Dias, Hudson Scanni, Jason Marchese and Nick Masters turned heads with Sea's first qualification for the Catholic State 4x400 finals in a seasonal best time of 3:27.95 FAT. In the finals, Steven Anzalone would replace Marchese and his big anchor leg PR of 51.2 moved the team from 4th to 2nd place earning the team the silver medals. Earlier in the day Vincent Masters became unofficially the 4th freshmen to break 5 minutes for Sea in the last 10 years. 5/19 - NY/BQ Sectionals - Icahn Stadium
Yet another rainy, damp and cold outdoor meet yet the team is competitive throughout. Steven Anzalone gets things kicked off by winning the NYC and NY Sectional Championship in the 400 IH with a personal best of 58.27 FAT. Michael Kieran takes 2nd in both in the 3000 Steeple. The Varsity 4x800 runs a gritty race just missing the win and settles for the silver medal. In the weight meet, the team takes first place in convincing fashion. We have won team titles in 2006, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2014 and now 2018. 5/12 - Louck's Games - White Plains H.S.
The Varsity 4x400 runs a seasonal best of 3:29.44 FAT. Hudson Scanni (52.3), Steven Anzalone (51.4), Nick Masters (52.9) and Ken Dias (52.1) comprise the relay. 5/12 - Frosh/Soph Intersectionals - Icahn Stadium
Corey Pisapia takes 4th in the Soph 800 with a PR of 2:05.6. The Frosh 4x400 earns 4th place medals with a seasonal best of 4:00.71 FAT, on a big sub 60 leg by Stephen Siracusa. 5/4-5/6 - Staten Island Champs - St. Joseph Sea/Susan Wagner
The Vikings take 3rd place in the team standings in the all borough island championship meet. Day 1 started with big wins by Michael Kieran (3000 Steeple) and Steven Anzalone (400 IH). Big Matt sets a seven foot PR in the discus with a 107'-0 toss which earned him the silver medal. On Day 2, Michael Kieran ran a spirited 3200 to just miss the win in a personal best 9:58.23 FAT.Hudson Scanni upsets the field in the 200 meters with a big win in a personal best of 23.15 FAT. Ken Dias sets a huge PR in the triple jump of 41'-7" which has him only a few inches from the gold. The Varsity 4x400 of Nick Masters, Jason Marchese, Hudson Scanni and Frank Ottomanelli earn plaques with a 1st place time of 3:35.56 FAT. Scanni's big 51.0 3rd leg for the team from 4th to first place and Senior Frank Ottomanelli's gritty PR on the anchor leg split of 54.9 locks down the win. Steve Anzalone runs 5 seconds faster than he did last year en route to a 3rd place finish of 2:00.28 in the 800 meters. 4/27-4/28 - Penn Relays - Franklin Field
The 4x800 qualifies for the Small School race but torrential downpours ruin any chance at some fast times. Michael Kieran (2:02.6), Steven Anzalone (2:01.1), Nick Masters (2:10.0) and Corey Pisapia (2:06.4) ran for the team. The 4x400 the following morning runs 3:32.21 FAT for 4th place in their heat. The all underclassmen foursome of Steven Anzalone (52.73), Hudson Scanni (51.48 PR), Nick Masters (54.63) and Jason Marchese (53.38 PR) comprise the relay. 4/21 - 19th Edition Big Blue Track & Field Classic - St. Joseph Sea H.S.
The Varsity 4x800 relay of Rob Romeo, Corey Pisapia, Dom Palermo and Nick Masters win the Championship 4x800. Michael Kieran runs a very fast 10:02.11 in the 3000 Steeplechase. Ken Dias, Hudson Scanni, Jason Marchese and Steven Anzalone takes 3rd place in the Invitational SMR. Anzalone earlier would place 2nd in the 400 IH. The Varsity 4x400 runs a seasonal and yearly best of 3:33.81 FAT. Steve Anzalone breaks 52 for the first time and Jason Marchese runs a 5 second personal best of 54.9. 15 out of 24 runners record 400 meter PR's. Corey Pisapia leads the 4x800 off with a big PR of 2:05.9. 4/7 - Farrell Invitational - Farrell H.S.
Steven Anzalone gets the outdoor season underway with a gold medal winning performance in the 400 IH. His 58.93 FAT time is a two second personal best and #1 NYS. Michael Kieran is 3rd in the 3200 meters.The Frosh 4x400 takes 5th place behind both Jake Panzella (59.9) and Vincent Masters (59.8) who both break 60 in their first ever 400's. Frosh Tom Napoli sets a 6 second PR with a 64.0. In the Invitational SMR, the relay takes 2nd behind big 200 PR's by Hudson Scanni and Jason Marchese. Scanni is the first Viking in 2 years to break 23 seconds. Soph Jason Marchese, in his first meet all year, after a long bout with pneumonia, runs 23.6 in his debut. 3/9 - New Balance Nationals - Armory
The Varsity SMR and 4x800 qualified for the prestigious New Balance Nationals. This meet concludes the indoor season for the Vikings. 2/20 - Eastern State Champs - Armory
The Varsity DMR runs 10:48.75 FAT. Hudson Scanni 6.94 PR and Lucas Lafferty 7.03 PR race in the 55 meters. Scanni later doubles up in the 4x200 with a 23.0 PR. 2/16 - North Shore Pre-Nationals - Armory
The Varsity SMR qualifies for the National Championships! Hudson Scanni 23.9, Lucas Lafferty 23.0 PR, Kenneth Dias 52.4 PR and Steven Anzalone 1:58.4 PR comprise the relay. This is Anzalone's first time under 2 minutes and he is the second Viking junior to do so this season. Michael Kieran sets a PR in the 400 with a 53.50 FAT. Milers Dom Palermo 4:43.58 FAT and Corey Pisapia 4:52.8 set PR's for the full mile. 2/10 - CHSAA Catholic State Champs - Ocean Breeze
Last meet of the season for most. Lots of end of season goals bodes well for the outdoor season. 2/3 - 111th Millrose Games - Armory
The Varsity 4x800 runs 8:06.12, a 9 second seasonal best en route to a 3rd place finish in the CHSAA race. Michael Kieran (2:01.4), Nick Masters (1:58.7), Steven Anzalone (2:01.5), and Dom Palermo (2:04.5) all set PR's in their medal winning performance. For Masters, it was the junior's first time going sub 2 minutes and a 4 second personal best. Palermo set a PR by 4 seconds as well in a gritty anchor leg run. The relay has now qualified for the Eastern States and National Championships. With a 8:06.12 time, the relay is ranked #9 in NY State and #30 in the USA!! 1/28 - NY/BQ Sectionals - Armory
Junior Steven Anzalone scorches the track with a 1:24.10 time in the 600 for over a 5 second PR. His time is the third fastest in Sea history! Lucas Lafferty takes 3rd in the long jump. The weight guys win the NY/BQ Junior Weight City Championship for the 2nd time in school history. Gold medals were won by Zack Ryan (Jr 55), Corey Pisapia (Midget 800), Ken Dias (Jr 300), and all of the relays - Sub Midget 4x2, Midget 4x2, Junior 4x2 and Junior 4x8. 1/20 - Ocean Breeze Grand Prix - Ocean Breeze
The Varsity 4x200 takes 3rd place in the Jim Hughes 4x200 with a big seasonal best of 1:35.90 FAT, almost two full seconds than we ran last year! In the George T. Eastment 4x800 the team is in the hunt most of the way and had the lead on the anchor leg with 3 laps to go! The relay finishes in 3rd place just off a seasonal best running with our #5 man! The best team effort of the season thus far as the team almost pulls off a major upset. We had the lead after 7 different events and as late as 5 events to go. Matthew Mitchell runs 6.84 to win the 55 meter dash and claim the title of "Fastest Boy on Staten Island!" Lucas Lafferty wins the long jump; the first major title of his career. QUALIFIED!! The Varsity 4x800 qualifies for the George T. Eastment 4x800 at the Grand Prix AND gets an invitation to the Millrose Games! The relay runs a 9 second seasonal best of 8:15.70 FAT. This is the 4th straight year we've made it and 12th time in our school's history! The team is now ranked #11 in NY State and #27 in the USA!! Sea qualifies for the George T. The team gets a final tune-up before a very big week of Millrose Trials/S.I. Champs. Lucas Lafferty paces the sprinters in the 300 and Michael Kieran posts a PR to lead the milers. Nick Masters returns to the track for his first open race and runs a solid 600. Ryan Simermeyer jumps 6'-0" in the high jump for the 3rd time this season to earn a 3rd place medal ALUMNI ARE COMPETING AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL!

At this year's Alumni Reunion, VCP School Record Holders met: Frank Reece '06 (13:13, 2005-2009), Daniel Zaccariello '10 (13:01, 2009-2015) and Robert Guidicipietro '15 (12:54, 2015 to present) 12/30 - Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival - Ocean Breeze
The Varsity SMR takes 5th place medals in a hotly contested SMR race that saw the facility record, one previously held by Sea in 2015, go down. Lafferty (23.8) and Dias (23.6) set PR's for the relay that ran 3:41.77 FAT which is currently #4 in NY State! 12/29 - Marine Corp Holiday Classic - Armory
In a bid to secure a spot in the seeded section of the Grand Prix 4x800 Trials; the team drops a 14 second seasonal best in 8:24.55 FAT. Running without our #1 and #4 800 meter runners; Dom Palermo (2:08) and Corey Pisapia (2:11) set personal bests. The 4x800 is now ranked #14 in NY State! 12/29 - Novice/Weight Champs - Ocean Breeze
The weightmen just miss winning the CHSAA Junior Weight Championship. The team wins the Midget 55, Junior 300, and all 3 weight relays. 12/17 - Bishop Loughlin Games - Ocean Breeze
Mike Kieran places 4th in the seeded section of the 1,000 meters. Soph Corey Pisapia breaks 5 minutes and breaks his PR by over 20 seconds. The sprinters record some nice 200's and our "A" team records a big seasonal best. Hudson Scanni is the first runner to break 24 seconds this year. The Frosh 4x400 takes 4th place and Ryan Simermeyer clears 6'-0 in the high jump for 4th place. 12/9 - CHSAA Relay Carnival - Armory
The weight men lead the way with medal winning performances in the sub midget, midget and junior midget divisions. Dom Palermo and Corey Pisapia run solid races in the Junior might 4x800. Hudson Scanni posts a 24.0 split in the 4x200 and Ken Dias sets a PR in the 4x400 with a 53.9 leadoff split. Frosh Nick Girellini posts fast splits of 25.9 and 58.8. The Frosh 4x200 takes 5th while Paul Jacobson (2nd) and Phil Peluso (5th) earn medals in the frosh 1600. The 2017-2018 kicks off at Ocean Breeze and the Varsity 4x400 is the highlight of the day holding off Xavier at the finish line. Michael Kieran dove at the line to nab the gold medals. Ryan Simermeyer, in his first meet in 2 years, is the top high jumper on the day with a big PR of 6-0". Lucas Lafferty is the top long jumper of the day with a 19'-7.5" leap. Frosh Jake Panzella (#8), Vincent Masters (#9) and Paul Jacobson (#10) all make the Frosh All-Time list on the Varsity 5K course. The JV team runs its best race of the season for a 19:47 5 man average. Senior Michael Kieran qualifies for his second consecutive trip to the NYS Federation Champs. Billy Voigt breaks 16 minutes as Ken Dias breaks the 17 minute barrier. Three frosh break 16 mins and Anthony Palermo, the #4 frosh, just misses. 11/7 - Frosh Islands - Clove Lakes
A hard luck 2nd place team finish for the frosh as Jake Panzella leads the team. Panzella (#13), Masters (#14) and Jacobson (#17) finish in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place en route to all-time list performances. The "A" 5 man average of 8:59 is the 4th fastest in Sea history. Vin Masters paces the frosh team to 6th place in the Frosh Catholic States; the #4 team in NYC. His 9:04 is #6 FR AT. Jake Panzella runs a big race as well with a 9:17 which is good enough for #13 FR AT. Colin Hunt breaks 10 minutes for the first time. Our 5 man average of 9:29 is the 3rd fastest frosh team in Sea history! Both the "A" and "B" squads were the top team on Staten Island. In the Clipper meet, Hudson Scanni runs a PR of 14:24 and Billy Voigt breaks out to run 16:18. 10/28 - NY/BQ Sectionals - VCP
Michael Kieran paces the varsity with a 7th place finish, 13:35. Frosh Vin Masters (#9 FR AT) and Paul Jacobson (#20 FR AT) make the all-time lists with times of 9:12 and 9:28, respectively. The XC team has a great time getting away before the championship season on the tough federation state meet course. Michael Kieran rebounds in a big way with a 17:07, 4th place finish. His time is #2 ALL-TIME. The frosh team places 2nd earning a team plaque. The first 10 freshmen establish all-time list performances on the 1.86 mile, (3,000 meter) frosh course. 10/14 - Manhattan College Invitational - VCP
Some minor break throughs for the Varsity as the frosh get their first VCP 2.5 race under their belts; the earliest a frosh team has ever run the varsity course. The Varsity team takes 3rd place in the "C" race while posting a 17:45 5 man average. Mike Kieran (#4), Steven Anzalone (#8), Hudson Scanni (#12) and Dom Palermo (#18) all make the All-Time list. The Frosh just miss earning a plaque as Vin Masters and Paul Jacobson break the frosh school record that was held by Nick Masters '19. 9/16 - Regis Invitational - VCP Michael Kieran paces the Viking XC squad with a 13:35 VCP debut. Major year to year improvements for the Varsity/JV guys. The frosh team posts some stellar times. The Frosh 5 man average is 9:54 which is the 2nd fastest 5 man average at any Sea VCP frosh debut. 9/10 - 4th Annual Luke Parlatore XC Invite - Clove Lakes Park
XC 2017 gets kicked off under a beautiful sky at Clove Lakes Park in a race that we hosted in memory of our Luke Parlatore '02. Major year to year improvements by the varsity guys. The Frosh highlight the day with a big team victory by placing 3 runners in the top 6 in the race. The JV team earns a 3rd place plaque on a big race by Ken Dias.
