3/7 - NY State Champs - Ocean Breeze
Corey Pisapia places 19th in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:39.38 FAT

2/14 - North Shore Pre-Nationals - Armory
The Frosh DMR DESTROYS the frosh school record that they set back in December by close to 40 seconds! The Varsity SMR just misses qualifying for Nationals by less than a half of a second. Corey Pisapia runs a big PR of 1:57.0. He is now the 5th fastest 800 meter runner in the last 20 years at Sea!

2/8 - Catholic State Champs - Ocean Breeze
Senior Captain Corey Pisapia almost upsets the entire field in the 1,000 meters. Coming in as the #4 seed, Pisapia sets a 5 second PR en route to a 2nd place finishing time of 2:36.73 FAT. He has earned his first trip to the NY State Championships in March. The Varsity 4x400 runs a seasonal best with a 5th place time of 3:32.39 FAT. Pisapia (52.7), Bradley Espejo (53.7), Stephen Siracusa (52.5) & Vincent Masters (53.3) all set PR's in the process. The Varsity 4x200 qualifies for the Catholic State final for the second year in a row and places 5th in the final. James Speciale, Bradley Espejo, Tom Pecora and Stephen Siracusa make up the relay. Espejo & Siracusa run very well in the final despite the race taking place 15 minutes after the 4x400! Freshmen Dylan Doskocil breaks his third frosh school record this time in the 1,000 meters. His 2:55.30 time breaks the previous school record of 2:55.59 set back in 2016. ​
The milers have a great day as well with many big PR's led by Soph Joe Pecoraro's first time sub 5!

CATHOLIC STATE CHAMPS HEAT SHEETS
2/1 - Frosh/Soph Intersectionals - Ocean Breeze
This year, the George T. Eastment 4x800 relay was contested at the Frosh/Soph Intersectionals due to a Millrose Games conflict with the CHSAA Intersectionals. The 4x800 relay turned heads with a 4th place finish and a 10 second seasonal best time of 8:17.54 FAT. As a matter of fact, 2nd leg Corey Pisapia blew the race open with a commanding lead which 3rd leg Vincent Masters only surrendered with 100 meters to go. Four out of four runners eclipsed personal bests - Jake Panzella (2:06.6), Corey Pisapia (1:58.9), Vincent Masters (2:04.0) and Phil Peluso (2:07.9). ONLY ONE SENIOR IS ON THE RELAY!

In the Jim Hughes Staten Island 4x200, again 4 out of 4 runners set PR's with the relay running a seasonal best time of 1:34.76 FAT for third place medals. The same foursome ran 1:38 at the Novice Champs at the end of December. James Speciale (23.5), Bradley Espejo (23.5), Tom Pecora (23.3) and Justin Alexander (24.2) all set PR's. ONLY ONE SENIOR IS ON THE RELAY!

At the Frosh/Soph Intersectionals, Frosh Dylan Doskocil takes 2nd in the 3,200 meters with a time of 10:59.31 FAT. Joey Wilson gets a 4th place medal in a PR of 11:21.18 FAT. The Frosh 4x800 runs a seasonal best time of 9:45.41 FAT and Wilson, Doskocil, Matthew Caccavo and James Hunt earn 3rd place medals. The Frosh 4x200 and Phil Denvio (Frosh 55 HH) both make the finals and finish in 6th place.

1/26 - Varsity NYC Championships - Armory
The Varsity 4x400 gets things kicked off with a 3rd place finish in 3:36.65 FAT. Capt Bradley Espejo hits a 2 second PR of 53.7. The Varsity 4x200 makes the City Championship final and takes 4th place. Capt Corey Pisapia earns a 4th place medal in the 1000 meters.The weight team wins a spirited contest over Stepinac 58-56 pts. Many medals are won on the day so many PR's are set which is special considering this was midterm week and we had no practices!

1/18 - Frosh/Soph NY/BQ Sectionals - Ocean Breeze
Dylan Doskocil upsets a tough freshmen field and smashes the frosh school record en route to winning the NYC Championship in the 3200 meters. His 10:52.59 FAT breaks the class record of 11:01.62 from 2008! Joey Wilson takes 4th with a PR of 11:25.23 FAT. The Frosh 4x200 finishes in 2nd place with a 1:48.11 FAT. To close the day, Matthew Caccavo runs a huge anchor leg PR of 2:21.7 to help Wilson, Doskocil & James Hunt win the NYC Championship in the 4x800 relay.

1/12 - Staten Island Champs - Ocean Breeze
Jason Marchese wins the 600 meters and Corey Pisapia runs a spirited 1000. The team scores in all 3 relays and many freshmen step up with some big performances.

1/7 - CHSAA Time Trials - Ocean Breeze
The Varsity 4x800 qualifies for the 14th time overall and 6th consecutive year for the George T. Eastment final which will be run on February 1, 2020. Jake Panzella led off in a second pack with a 2:10.7 carry. Corey Pisapia jetted out to the lead pack going through 400 meters in 55.9 while running a 2:01.4 personal best. Vincent Masters, just recently returning from a stress fracture that had him miss half of cross country and all of December ran a gritty leg while handing off in 2:11.0. Jason Marchese took it home with a 2:03.4 personal best for the 5th place finish. Earlier in the day the 4x200 takes a hard luck 7th place finish missing the final by a mere half of a second. Congrats on keeping the 4x800 legacy alive!

1/4 - Freedom Games - Ocean Breeze
The team gets in some open running events to prep for the CHSAA time trials and SI Champs. James Speciale leads the sprinters in the 55 meters and 3 drop under 40 seconds in the 300. 
12/30 - Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival - Ocean Breeze
The Frosh DMR smashes the school record; a record that's been on the books since 2000! Dylan Doskocil (3:45.9 PR), Nick Colon (63.2 PR), Matthew Caccavo (2:26.8 PR) and Joey Wilson (5:34.3) combine to run 12:49.14 FAT. The previous mark was 13:12.8. The Varsity SMR takes 3rd place medals. Corey Pisapia (53.1), Bradley Espejo (23.9), James Speciale (24.3) and Jason Marchese (2:03.9 PR) run 3:45.36 FAT.

12/29 - CHSAA Novice & Weight Championships - Ocean Breeze
The Novice 4x200 takes 1st place and breaks the meet record with a time of 1:38.36 FAT. The Blue (formerly midget) 4x200 establishes a meet record with its 1st place finish. As a team, the Vikings take 7th in the novice meet and 2nd in the weight meet.

12/28 - Marine Corp Holiday Classic - Armory
The Varsity 4x800 drops 14 seconds off of its seasonal best for a time of 8:28.60 FAT. Jake Panzella (2:07.4 PR), Corey Pisapia (2:02.4), Phil Peluso (2:12.4 PR) and Jason Marchese (2:06.4) make up the relay.

12/22 - Bishop Loughlin Games - Ocean Breeze
Jason Marchese running in his first 600 meter race posts a 1:22.85 FAT which is #2 USA!! Lots of PR's set by the newer members of the team in the 55 dash, 300 & 600 meters as well as some nice relay splits.
Phil Denivo & Jason Caccavo take 2nd and 3rd in the freshmen 55 meter high hurdles. All in all it was a great day to get a good workout in for the championships of January & February.

12/14 - CHSAA Relay Carnival - Armory
The Frosh 4x200 gets things kicked off with a 1st place finish in a time of 1:49.45 FAT. Phil Denivo, Jason Caccavo, Matthew Ramos & Nick Colon earn gold medals. The Blue (formerly midget) 4x200 earn gold medals and the Gold (formerly junior weight) take 2nd and 4th place medals. The Gold 4x800 earns 3rd place medals on a big anchor leg by Joe Pecoraro. The Varsity 4x200 runs a seasonal best time of 1:35.91 FAT. Bradely Espejo leads 5 long jumpers making their debuts with a jump of 17'-10" Lots of 200 and 400 PR's were recorded as well.

12/7 - Staten Island Relays - Ocean Breeze
The indoor season kicks off with lots of promising performances. A young, green team with more than half of the team competing in their first indoor meet of their careers. The Frosh 4x200 relay of Jason Caccavo, Phil Denivo, Matthew Ramos and Anthony Colon take the first set of indoor medals of the year with a 5th place time of 1:49.38 FAT. The Varsity 4x400 and Varsity SMR both earn silver medals. Very solid indoor opener from the seniors down to the newest freshmen.

11/5 - Frosh Islands - Clove Lakes Park
Fantastic performances across the board for the frosh in a very fast Frosh Island Championships. The frosh school record 5 man average of 8:51 set in 2007 was broken by today's squad that posted an 8:50! Dylan Doskocil 8:31, Joey Wilson 8:32 and Naim Ibroci 8:41 finish as the #5 FR AT, #7 FR AT and #9 FR AT respectively. Matt Caccavo wins the Frosh "B" race! Both "A" and "B" teams take second place and the freshmen team will be presented with a plaque at the XC Dinner on 12/12 at the Hilton!

11/2 - Frosh/Soph Catholic State Intersectionals - VCP
The frosh place 6th at the Catholic State Champs behind Dylan Doskocil's 9:01 clocking. His time is the 3rd fastest freshmen time in Sea history! Joey Wilson runs 9:20 and Naim Ibroci breaks out with a 9:23, both are #17 FR AT and #19 FR AT! Nick Lento breaks 10 minutes with a 9:50, a 15 second PR. Matthew Caccavo running in his first race hits 10:04, a very impressive opening race. The seasonal VCP 5 man average drops to 9:28 which is the 3rd fastest in Sea history!
10/26 - NY/BQ Sectionals - VCP
Jake Panzella dips under 15 minutes for the first time! The freshmen have a big day en route to a 4th place finish in the NYC Championships and 5 man average of 9:38. Dylan Doskocil places 5th with a 39 sec PR of 9:08. James Hunt sets a 95 second PR with a 9:46. Most of the Frosh "B" runs set PR's of 2:00+ minutes. Nick Folmer breaks his PR by 3:46!!

10/12 - Manhattan College Invitational - VCP
Junior Vincent Masters runs a big PR en route to a 14:14 clocking. Joe Pecoraro, a soph, runs 15:47 chopping close to 2 minutes off his PR. Dylan Doskocil runs 15:35 which is #9 FR AT. All of the freshmen get their first time on the VCP 2.5 course.
9/28 - Six Flags Wild Safari - Jackson, NJ
The frosh light up the trails for a 3rd place finish in the team standings. Dylan Doskocil crushes the school record en route to a 4th place finishing time of 11:19. Newcomer Naim Ibroci finishes as #2 ALL-TIME with a time of 11:31. Joey Wilson (#3) and Nick Lento (#8) also crack the all-time list!
