The Program
The year is divided into three distinct seasons. Cross Country (Sept-Nov), Indoor Track & Field (Dec-Feb) and Outdoor Track & Field (Mar-May) Each season is unique and we keep them separate although most of our athletes compete in all three seasons.
The coaching staff takes pride in the development of the Cross Country/Track & Field program here at Sea. The nature of the sport dictates that natural talent alone will not lead to athletic success. In fact, most of our accomplished athletes have not competed in track before high school. We recognize that high school is a time for development and we find our program eases the transition to adulthood by increasing responsibility and discipline. We do this while helping your son build relationships with teachers, coaches and fellow athletes. Some of the accomplishments of our program include:
Content Area Peer Tutoring
Athletes help tutor each other to ensure academic success
Hosting the Annual "Big Blue Track Classic"
A meet at our track where teams from as far as Grenada have attended
Competing and volunteering in the "Daniel Kelley Twilight Mile"
A series of 1 mile races at our school in memory of a deceased athlete/coach
Volunteering for local races
Such as the Scott's Race 5k, SI Half Marathon and NYC Marathon
Receiving the 2003 "Marty Glickman Award"
An award given to an outstanding track team with a high GPA and community involvement
as well as a high team morale
Recent graduates have attended
Harvard, MIT, West Point, NYU and Univ of Penn.
Competing and volunteering in the "Luke M. Parlatore Race"
A road race named for a deceased captain of our team
End of the Year Picnic
