The weekend got kicked off negatively with a DQ in the EE 4x200 but 2 hours later the sprint squad rebounded in the EE 800 SMR by taking 6th place in a school record 1:34.94 FAT. They actually tied another team for 6th and the tie was broken by the hundredth place earning the foursome a set of medals. On Saturday, Dom Palermo placed 21st in the Championship 2000 Steeple with a time of 6:13.87 FAT. Finally, on Sunday the 4x400 ran one of the best races in Sea history en route to a 3rd place finish in the EE 4x400. Kenneth Dias got things started off with a smooth 50.0 personal best carry to get Sea to the lead. Hudson Scanni maintained his position with a 50.4 leg. Steven Anzalone battled to hold his position with a personal best of 49.7. Jason Marchese, the SIHSTFA Runner of the Year, got passed by the Mounties of New Jersey at the 200 meter mark but fought valiantly to get to the finish line in a second place, 3:18.78 clocking. The Mounties would go on to set a meet record with a time of 3:17.64. Marchese’s 48.4 relay split represents almost a full one second personal best time. Wow, simply amazing and such a great send-off for a fine senior class! 6/7 - NY State Champs - Middletown H.S.
Competing in a relay at the NY State Champs for the first time since 2010; the Vikings place 11th while lowering the school record to 3:21.37 FAT. THREE SCHOOL RECORDS GO DOWN AT EASTERNS!

It's also #2 STATEN ISLAND ALL-TIME! The Varsity 4x200 becomes only the 3rd team in Staten Island history to break the elusive 1:30 barrier with a 1:29.97 time. It annihilates the previous school record of 1:31.26 that was set 12 days ago at the East Coast Relays. Ken Dias (22.5), Hudson Scanni (22.3), Jason Marchese (22.4) and Steven Anzalone (22.4) comprised the relay. Finally, 25 minutes later the 4x200 guys all raced the 400 meter dash. Jason Marchese sets a 1 second PR with a 49.54 FAT. It eclipses the 9 year mark set by Adam Civitano (49.93) set in 2010. His time of 9:48.61 FAT breaks the school record of 9:56.2 held by Matt Simeone '09. For most of the meet, the Vikings either held the lead of were in the Top 3 of the team standings. To close the meet out, the Varsity 4x400 of Kenneth Dias, Hudson Scanni, Steven Anzalone and Jason Marchese battled windy conditions to win the Catholic State title. This was a year long goal for the relay, and is sweet considering that the relay missed winning indoors when a fall on the lead-off leg led to a DNF. 5/20 - East Coast Relays - Randolph H.S.
