5/27 - Catholic State Intersectionals - Icahn Stadium
Junior Krissy Sarnicola runs a huge race and crushes her school record with a 7:13.24 FAT in the 2,000 steeple. Her time is #4 in SI History! What's amazing is she did so while fulling over the last water jump!! Senior Captain Victoria Dziubela takes 2nd with a 5 second PR of 7:47.08 FAT. Dziubela would later add a 5th place in the 1,500 with a time of 5:04.49 FAT. Junior Sam Walz places 2nd in both the 200 (24.81 FAT) and 100 (12.36 FAT). Olivia Cowan barely makes the TJ finals but pops a 33'11.5" to win the Catholic State Championships by just a 1/2". Earlier in the day, Cowan tied her career best in the HJ with a 4-8" in the high jump. The 4x100 relay of Nicolina Siracusa, Olivia Cowan, Alex Tavarez & Anya Scattaglia combine to run 52.16 FAT in the finals to break the school record of 52.30 FAT from 2003! Siracusa added a 5th place vault of 8'-6" tying her career best.
On the boys side, Joey Wilson leads a 3-4-5 in the 3,000 Steeple with a PR of 9:49.03 FAT. The Brothers Doskocil finish in 4th and 5th with times of 9:58.97 FAT and 10:22.77 FAT. Sophs Johnny Walz (4:44.52 FAT) and Christian Garofano (4:44.84 FAT) record BIG PR's in the 1,600 meters. The Soph 4x400 relay is crushed by over 2 seconds as James LaMarca, Jeremy Muccio, Luis Quiles & Matthew Brodsky combine to run 3:32.79 FAT. Soph Shane McAnuff tosses 128'-11" to take 5th in the discus with a 4 foot PR.
