5/20 - NY/BQ Sectional Champs - Icahn Stadium
The girls team adds the outdoor sectional title and storms to victory for the first time in ten years at the meet during rainy treacherous conditions. Krissy Sarnicola wins the NYC & NY Sectional titles in her steeple debut with a school record time of 7:30.06 FAT. The previous record was 7:43 from 2014. Sam Walz was a double winner taking both the NYC & NY Sectional titles in the 100 and 400 meters. She would be awarded the Co-Track MVP for her efforts. Nicolina Siracusa vaults a career best 8'-6" to take the NY Sectional title in the pole vault. Olivia Cowan wins the NYC & NY Sectional titles in the triple jump. Frannie Maglione wins the NY Sectional title in the discus with a toss of 69'-9". In an exciting finish, Capt Victoria Dziubela goes from 5th to 1st in the 1,500 with a huge kick at the end to win the NYC & NY Sectional titles. The girls top Notre Dame Academy 77 pts to 40 pts. In the city scoring, Sea places third behind St Francis Prep and Molloy.
On the boys side, Joey Wilson runs away with the 3,000 steeple with a time of 9:57.47 FAT to win the NYC & NY Sectional titles. Wilson would complete the "iron-man" double with a 2nd place finish in the 3,200 with a time of 9:49.36 FAT. Soph Johnny Walz takes 5th in the 800 with a 2 second PR of 2:05.50 FAT. Shane McAnuff gets 4th in the discus with a 5 foot PR of 124'-1". The boys finish in 4th place at the Sectionals with 27 pts. In the Small School City Championship "A" division, the team takes 2nd with 59 pts. Regis were the victors with 79 pts.
